Authorities
The highest authority of the Library of Congress is the Honorable Library Committee, whose members are the Presidents of the Senate, Mr. Jovino Novoa Vásquez, Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Rodrigo Álvarez Zenteno, and the Director of the Library.

Academic degrees: Librarian of the Universidad de Chile and information resource administrator of the Escuela de Documentalistas de Madrid. Prior to assuming the direction of the Library of Congress, in April, 2003, she was Director of the Information Services and Libraries System (SISIB) of the Universidad de Chile; Director of the Libraries System of the Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile (SIBUC), and an independent consultant.
She participated in the creation of the virtual Library of the Municipality of Vitacura (VitaNet); developed a WEB query system for the Official Legal Gazzette of Chile; brought on-line an Internet catalogue of the diverse Libraries of the Universidad de Chile; created the Audivisual Center of the Universidad de Chile; and was General Manager of INFOERA, an information services networking company.
She has directed numerous innovative projects, implementing new information management technologies in public and private Libraries; she has intervened actively in national and international Congresses and has published numerous papers in the fields of Library and information resource management.

Deputy Director of the Library of the National Congress of Chile
Manuel Alfonso Pérez Guiñez
Political scientist, systems analyst, Professor of History and Geography. Studies at the University of Chile and the Metropolitana of Santiago, Chile; Leipzig Universität, Germany; Undergraduate Degree and Masters Degree at the Université de la Sorbonne, France.
He studied Management of Information Systems and Information Technology, at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been researcher and professor at different Universities, in the fields of Administration, Social Sciences, information systems, communications and informatics networks, Director of the Informatics and Communications Department of the Metropolitana University of Education Sciences of Chile (1992-94); Chief of Project for the construction of the Communications Network in the National Congress of Chile. Was Chief of Systems and Information Networks of the Library of the National Congress of Chile, between 1994 and 2003.
