Since 1949, without interruption, the Library has stored properly organized and retrievable press information, which reflects the political, economic and social activity of the country, according to the national media narrations. All the resources developed have established a unique collection in the country, covering almost seventy years old. It contains: • 4,400,000 paper press clippings by subject and chronologically ordered (1949-2000) • 810,000 press referential cards indexed by subject, personal and institutional names (1949- 1990) • 750,160 newspaper clippings digitized and indexed applying controlled vocabulary, running in client server system, (2001-2009) and • 9.250,000,000 of digital press, including full text, images, videos and audios, organized in an online system named “Noticias”, using "free-text searches”, entirely developed by the Library (2009 to the present). The current online system has had the capability to integrate the all historical developing resources. In fact, the digital collection (2001-2009), 23.0000 historic paper press clippings and several press record cards has already been joined to it. Out of respect for the constraints defined by the intellectual property law, the access to digital collection is exclusive to parliamentary community. In spite of this, all the paper press clippings collection is open for consultation by authorized researchers. |

Parliamentary portal, an internal online service of the National Congress which provides the parliamentary community with information relevant to the development of its own tasks, in order to satisfy information needs and support in legislative, representative and control work. This channel allows access to the documents of the Department of Studies of the BCN, to the digital collections, Bibliographic Catalog, databases and / or subscriptions that the institution maintains in force to collaborate in the legislative work. Thus, it has a series of sections that seek to deliver in a timely manner the latest generated by the Library of Congress for the parliamentary community |
